About Our Dressage Trainer Rachel Weatherly

About Rachel Weatherly

Rachel was born and raised in Payson, Arizona where she discovered her passion for horses at a very young age. At the age of six she began riding under the instruction of Shari Patterson, focusing on dressage and hunter-jumpers. Five years later Rachel got her first horse, Seventeen Candles, aka Maverick, who resides at Sundancer Stables and is now a lesson horse for Sunny Weather Dressage. Two years later, at the age of thirteen, Rachel began working for Shari Patterson – cleaning stalls and assisting her in her training business. After working for Shari for five years, Rachel moved to Tucson for college where she began working for Laura Decesari-Normandeau with L&L Dressage as an assistant trainer.

In 2014 Rachel moved to Glendale and brought Maverick to Sundancer Stables. In July of 2015 she began working with ZEVIS Private Jet, aka Gunny, and by April 2016 the pair competed in an ADA recognized show at second and third level. Rachel is now the resident dressage trainer at Sundancer Stables and is accepting clients of any skill level. Along with dressage training, Rachel also does behavioral training and overall conditioning work.
